Black & White Queenstown Landscape. Shot with a 14-24 Nikon lens, Lightroom black and white conversion

Here is a black and white version of the previous Queenstown landscape shot. This was taken in the same location but I used the 14-24 Nikon lens to make the scene a little more dramatic, I think the clouds really help this image. I then used Lightroom for the black and white conversion. I tinted the desaturated image by adding a touch of yellow to the highlights, and darkened the edges with gradient filters. CLICK HERE to learn more about Adobe Lightroom. Sunrise landscape, shot on Nikon D3 with a 60mm Nikon lens, processed with Lightroom.

I caught this early morning sunrise in Queenstown New Zealand while I was having breakfast. I really like the serene feeling of this shot, the jetty adds a nice graphic element to the overall image. I used Lightroom to enhance the sunrise light source - I did this by brushing over the sunrise and the horizon reflection on the water. I then brightened up this area and slightly defocused it to help make it more subtle. The defocused area was achieved by using negative sharpening and clarity. CLICK HERE to learn more about Adobe Lightroom. Cinematic Queenstown Portrait : Lightroom Split Tone

I took advantage of the stunning scenery in Queenstown this weekend and created this cinematic shot. I enhanced the look of this image by adding a purple split tone color combination and some extra light on the water. Queenstown Landscape Processed in Lightroom, shot on 14-24 Nikon lens

This was my first chance to try out the 14-24mm f2.8 Nikon lens on a landscape. This lens does amazing things with clouds and reflections. The Lightroom work in this image consisted of a few different treatments, the main one was to increase both the vibrancy and saturation across the whole image, this enhanced the blues nicely, but over saturated the orange colors in the trees. To compensate for this I did some selective desaturation with the orange and yellow tones which fixed this problem. I also applied the brush tool to the tree horizon and added small amount of extra exposure to bring out the details. To finish off the image I sharpened the tree areas slightly and then brushed some subtle yellow light into the cloud areas. This part of New Zealand is amazing at this time of the year, if you are in the area Queenstown should be on your list of stop overs. CLICK HERE to learn more about Adobe Lightroom.
