Installing Lightroom CC Presets

Installing your Presets is easy. I’ve listed the steps listed below. If you have purchased the Cuba Gallery Lightroom Preset Pack these instructions will also be included in your digital download.
  1. First download the presets and unzip the files. Open either Lightroom 5, Lightroom 6 or Lightroom CC.
  2. For Apple Mac users click on ‘Lightroom’ in the top menu, then select ‘Preferences’ from the drop down menu. For PC users click on ‘Edit’ in the menu and select ‘Preferences’. On the Preferences screen there will be six tabs at the top, click on the tab that says ‘Presets’. Now click on the button that says ‘Show Lightroom Presets Folder'.
  3. In this window double click on the ‘Lightroom’ folder, then double click on the ‘Develop Presets’ folder. You can now copy your presets into the ‘Develop Presets’ folder. Finally restart Lightroom and the new presets will appear in ‘Develop’ mode in the left hand panel.

Black and White Child Portrait. Shot with 14-24 lens processed in Lightroom

I took this shot in front of the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne. The light in the entrance way to the gallery is really amazing. There is a huge glass wall with water flowing over it that helps diffuse light coming from the rear, and then a huge curved entrance arch that helps shape the light from the front. It seems to do great things for eyes when taking portrait shots. This image was processed in black and white using Lightroom, I used the brush tool to help brighten the face slightly. Gradient filters where used on the background to darken the edges. CLICK HERE to learn more about Adobe Lightroom. Black & White Queenstown Landscape. Shot with a 14-24 Nikon lens, Lightroom black and white conversion

Here is a black and white version of the previous Queenstown landscape shot. This was taken in the same location but I used the 14-24 Nikon lens to make the scene a little more dramatic, I think the clouds really help this image. I then used Lightroom for the black and white conversion. I tinted the desaturated image by adding a touch of yellow to the highlights, and darkened the edges with gradient filters. CLICK HERE to learn more about Adobe Lightroom. Sunrise landscape, shot on Nikon D3 with a 60mm Nikon lens, processed with Lightroom.

I caught this early morning sunrise in Queenstown New Zealand while I was having breakfast. I really like the serene feeling of this shot, the jetty adds a nice graphic element to the overall image. I used Lightroom to enhance the sunrise light source - I did this by brushing over the sunrise and the horizon reflection on the water. I then brightened up this area and slightly defocused it to help make it more subtle. The defocused area was achieved by using negative sharpening and clarity. CLICK HERE to learn more about Adobe Lightroom. Queenstown Landscape Processed in Lightroom, shot on 14-24 Nikon lens

This was my first chance to try out the 14-24mm f2.8 Nikon lens on a landscape. This lens does amazing things with clouds and reflections. The Lightroom work in this image consisted of a few different treatments, the main one was to increase both the vibrancy and saturation across the whole image, this enhanced the blues nicely, but over saturated the orange colors in the trees. To compensate for this I did some selective desaturation with the orange and yellow tones which fixed this problem. I also applied the brush tool to the tree horizon and added small amount of extra exposure to bring out the details. To finish off the image I sharpened the tree areas slightly and then brushed some subtle yellow light into the cloud areas. This part of New Zealand is amazing at this time of the year, if you are in the area Queenstown should be on your list of stop overs. CLICK HERE to learn more about Adobe Lightroom. Beautiful sunset across the harbor in Auckland. Shot with my Nikon D3 and processed using Lightroom

Today was a great day to be out in Auckland (New Zealand), it was nice to finally have a few clear days, it almost felt like a slice of summer. I really like the simplicity of this shot, I added a bit more color in Lightroom and then pushed the tones toward green instead of blue. I used the clarity function to enhance the clouds, I also added a few gradient filters top and bottom to darken the sky and water. I finished the image off by adding some selective sharpening to bring out the texture on the waves. CLICK HERE to learn more about Adobe Lightroom. Beach entrance at night. Shot on a Nikon D3 and processed in Lightroom to enhance night lighting.

I decided to use this image as a test case for creating a cinematic night time look, in simple terms I have cooled the color palette down and added additional darker tones into the image. I have illuminated the pathway to make it appear like there is moon light and generally tinted the greens to appear stronger. Many of the other colors have been desaturated and then Lightroom 'split tones' have been used to reintroduce a much colder feel. Definitely an interesting experiment.
